Splatoon Raiders Blue Compass Guide

Learn how Blue Compasses work, where compass pickups are tracked, and how they reveal Sampler Dungeons.

Updated 2026-07-29By Raiders Atlas Editorial

Quick answer

A Blue Compass reacts while you move the Treasure Map marker toward its hidden destination. Test the main directions, follow the direction that lights the compass blue, and switch axis when the response stops. Use smaller movements when the map shows the interaction prompt is close.

How the Blue Compass works

Unlike a simple pointer, the Blue Compass behaves like a directional test. It responds while the map marker is moving along a useful line and turns off after the marker moves beyond it.

  1. Open the Treasure Map and move the marker in each major direction.
  2. Continue along the direction that makes the compass fill blue.
  3. Stop when the response disappears.
  4. Try the perpendicular directions from that point.
  5. Repeat with smaller movements until the map offers the interaction prompt.

Use small marker movements near the destination. Large movements make it easy to pass the point where the compass changes direction.

Finish precisely: smaller movements reveal the interaction prompt when the marker reaches the hidden dungeon.

Where compass pickups are found

Compass pickups appear inside dark-blue crates in relic-hunting and crystal levels, plus selected post-credits dungeons. The crates may sit away from the shortest route, so check high platforms, hidden corners, and alternate paths.

This table explains the level types and tracking method. It is not a complete 24-location checklist. Exact stage coordinates will be added with original annotated captures.

How to check whether a level still has a compass

Open the Treasure Map, press ZL, and review the level list. The compass icon receives a check mark after the relevant pickup has been collected. A missing check gives you a focused level to revisit.

What compasses unlock

Compasses reveal Sampler Dungeons. These challenge stages use preset loadouts, often introducing a particular gadget or constraint. That makes a compass useful for progression even when the pickup does not immediately improve your current weapon.

How many Blue Compasses are there?

There are 24 Blue Compasses: 21 available through the main game and three tied to post-credits challenges.
